Description
English: The U.S. portion of the peninsula has a land border with Canada but is not completely surrounded by Canada. Although physical connections by water with it are entirely within the sovereignty of the United States, land access is only possible through Canada. This land exhibits continuity of state territory across territorial waters but, nevertheless, a discontinuity on land. (image by U.S. Geological Survey)
