Two different models of orogenic collapse

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Orogenic collapse can occur under different circumstances. If the tectonic forces which thickened the crust are still active, then it is considered a fixed-boundary collapse, where the brittle upper crust breaks down. If the tectonic forces have been released, then it is considered a free-boundary collapse, where the upper and lower crust extend together.
