Description

A visitor views the annular eclipse at the Historic Shirk Ranch.

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, an annular solar eclipse was visible from your public lands across Oregon.

Occurring when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, this event creates a “ring of fire” effect in the sky. The path of annularity began on a cloudy Oregon coast and crossed through to the southeastern deserts of our state where things were a bit clearer.

BLM employees and public lands visitors alike got outside to enjoy the show!
