| Description |
English: Old Toll House at Hartshill An interesting building, allegedly built about 1790. At that time the currently bricked up arch below the house would have been open. The horses would bring their loads of stone, etc round the back of the building (it has a rounded corner to allow them to turn). The boats would be loaded then floated under the house where the tolls would be exacted. Once the dues were paid the boats would join the main Coventry Canal to continue the journey to their destination. |
