English: Supplementary Movie 3 Planar slip. As the displacement is increased, perfect dislocations start to move. All such undissociated dislocations move with difficulty. Because of this, localized bands of planar slip containing perfect dislocation arrays are formed. The dynamic process of planar slip of perfect (½<110> type) dislocations is shown. Additional force needs to be applied to maintain their motion, indicative of high friction stress. |
