Description Dwayne Mangum, NRCS District Conservationist, and volunteer manager of the South Carolina Sea Island Farmers Cooperative and a member of the South Carolina State General Assembly, examine a sunflower. The co-op, organized in the late 1960's when farms were becoming fewer and larger, enables farmers to pool their produce to compete in the market as a production marketing cooperative.
