葛飾北斎画の江戸名所絵本。大本3巻合1冊。当該本は刊記を欠くが、通常、見られるのは享和2年(1802)春、蔦屋重三郎他3軒連記のものである。極彩色摺り。初板は、北斎の本格的な絵本の魁として、寛政11年(1799)春、『東遊』の書名で、蔦屋から墨摺りの絵入り狂歌本として出された。当該本は、その絵丁だけを集めて、順番を改め、彩色を施し、江戸名所絵本として再生させたもの。浅草菴の序は、年記部分を享和2年正月に改変しただけで、あとは初板に同じ。そのため江戸の名所を「なにかしか絵にうつさせ、例の友とちのされことを物して」云々とあるうち、「なにかし」(北斎)に写させたとするのはよいが、仲間の「されこと」(狂歌)を集めたというのは、中身と齟齬がある。絵は、芝神明春景、日本橋以下、人の表情が判別できない、細密な線描による景観図が大半を占める。佃白魚網の千石船、新吉原仲の町の花見、その他、後続の名所絵に与えた影響は大きく、半丁図の日本橋長崎屋の阿蘭陀人図や蔦屋の店頭図は有名である。半井卜養、英一蝶その他、画中の賛も注目すべきであろう。(鈴木淳)〈参考文献〉永田生慈編『北斎の狂歌絵本』1988年11月、岩崎美術社。
