円山四条派の句入美人絵本。色摺り。大本1冊。柱題「平安名家文化画譜」。文化4年(1807)春、京都・菊舎太兵衛梓。彫工、石川助次郎、刷工、菊舎藤吉。半丁ごとに絵と句を配する。絵は美人の全身像で、作者は、南岳、豊彦、広成、岸文、文鳴、南豊、公澄、琦鳳、景文、馬寅、方円。合羽摺りを併用した鮮やかな色使いに加え、濃淡を際立たせ、背景の拭きぼかし、衣装の押し型文などが見所。描かれるのは官女、奥女中、海女、芸者、茶摘み、大原女、花魁など。句の作者、季謙、春坡、千崖、蒼虬、桃江、丈左、他による四季折々の自然の景物を詠んだ句が並ぶ。文化4年(1807)春、野馬五趙の序に「画家の高士、俳風の秀才たちのよせられたるそのみやひ、いひはやさむ言葉なく美人合と呼、はた菊舎のみやひにして、この序にことはなし」とあり、本絵本成立の背景に、菊舎すなわち蕪村門の其成が絡んだ、雅趣に富んだ俳諧摺物の存在を感じさせる。(鈴木淳)(2016.2)
