Miskelk
Description
Miskelk van verguld zilver, met afschroefbare cuppa. De opdrachtgever van de miskelk was de katholieke Gosewijn van Steenler, advocaat aan het hof van Gelre. Steenler liet omstreeks 1640 de kelk vervaardigen ten behoeve van de jezuïet Lieven de Clerck. De stad was al sinds 1579 in handen van de hervormden en de openbare uitoefening van de katholieke godsdienst was verboden. Toch werden in schuilkerken of bij gelovigen thuis katholieke erediensten gehouden waarvoor avondmaalszilver werd vervaardigd. Deze miskelk is daar een voorbeeld van.
