Description
English: A portrait of a man composed of his head and torso in front of a rich red fabric background. The fabric resembles a curtain and is pulled back at the lower left corner of the work to reveal a greyish pink sky and trees behind the subject. The man has black and gray hair which is wavy and medium length- ending just below his eyes. He has long sideburns and the hair is parted on his left side. He has prominent eyebrows and a prominent nose. He has no facial hair and downturned brown eyes. He has on a formal black and white outfit featuring a black collared coat, a shiny black vest with a deep neckline and a white shirt underneath. He has a shiny black piece of fabric around his neck which is delicately tied and showcases his long, graceful neck. He is seated looking out at the viewer and turned slightly to his right. he painting shows some wear in the form of lighter spots speckled throughout.
