Church of the Assumption of Mary (Immaculate Conception church). Built in between 1775 and 1777, architect János Károly Linch. Above the main entry is Harruckern and Dirling coats of arms (Baron Ferenc Harruckern is a Dominican, a Hungarian landowner nobleman of Austrian descent. Baron Ferenc Harruckern, a Dominican, died in 1775, so his activities related to the construction work were continued by his wife Maria Antonia Dirling. The left coat of arms is the Harruckern familydetail of his Imperial knightly coat of arms. Material: gypsum, sandsonr. Painted.), abovo this is a Harruckern Memorial Plaque (black natural stone with golden color Latin inscription) - Inside: The high altar designed by Hillebrandt. Tabernacle and carvings on it is by the local master János Berndt. The main altarpiece, made in 1778, is a work by Hubert Maurer, depicting Maria Immaculata. The images of the side altars of St. Anne and St. George, St. Francis are the works of unknown masters of the 18th century. St. Joseph altar, is 1781 works. The tomb of Francis John Harruckern,-who died and was buried in Vienna-is a 1777 works by Viennese sculptor Martin Schmidt. In 1951, the Altar of Our Lady of Reed was completed by Antal Borsa. Ceiling fescos (470 sqm) are 1987 works by László Patay - Harruckern Square, Downtown, Gyula, Békés County, Hungary.

Római katolikus templom a Szeplőtelenül fogantatott Szent Szűz tiszteletére (másnéven: Nádi Boldogasszony templom). Helyén már a középkorban is templom állt, melyet a törökök – minaretet és türbét építve mellé - dzsámivá alakítottak. A török kiűzése után az épületet ismét a katolikusok használták. 1744-re azonban már szűknek bizonyult, ezért lebontották és helyébe egy nagyobb templomot emeltek, mely mintegy három évtizeden keresztül állt fenn. A templomot mai, barokk formájában 1775-ben kezdték építeni, Linck János Károly uradalmi építész tervei alapján, Báró Harruckern Ferenc Domonkos kegyúr jóvoltából. A toronytörzs mellett két kis posztamensen egy-egy kőurna. A párnatagos toronysisak vörösrézzel fedett és 1775-ös évszámmal van feliratozva. Kétoldalon posztamensen álló pilaszterek, mely felett oromzatos timpanon mezejében Harruckern- és Dirling-címer illetve még feljebb Harruckern-emléktábla felirata "A Francisco L. Barone ab Harukker/Perpetuo in Gyula,/Praeside/Provinciae Békésiensis/Domino/Dominii Gyula/Patrono/Ecclesiae istius/Sacrae hae aedes e fundamentis adducatae/Anno MDCCLXXV". A nyugati homlokzaton Pro memoria Apor Vilmos 1892-1945 (Felállítás 1989, Bakos Ildikó, bronz dombormű, a portrén kívúl két címer és mindenféle egyébb is bele van karcolva úgy mint: Dávid csillag, gépkarabély, szögesdrót, ág?, Szent Isván aláírása, egy kar benne csecsemővel, egy bakancs?) - Az Erkel tér felőli oldalán van: 'Itt nyugszik Ravusz István plébános †1733 a pestisben szenvedő betegek lelki gonodozása közben áldozta életét' emléktábla (2000) ÉS 'Itt nyugszik Görliczky Simon békéscsabai plébános †1753 (2000) ÉS 'Deák János 1674-1764 licenciátus vezetésével települtek le 1715-ben Gyulán az első katolikus családok' emléktábla (2000) - Homlokzatán van "Ebben a templomban szentelték püspökké Apor Vilmos c. csolti apát gyulai plébános 1941. február 24.-én..." 80. évfordulós emléktábla (2021). A templom előterénél található kápolnában van Hidassy - Belső: A 'Szeplőtelenül fogantatott Szűzanya' főoltárkép 1778-ban készült, Maurer Hubert alkotása. A Szent Anna és Szent György, Szent Ferenc mellékoltárok ismeretlen alkotók képei a 18. században készültek. A Szent József mellékoltár képét Ferracuti (dán) mester készítette 1781-ben. A templom mennyezetét Patay László (1932–2002) festőművész 1987-es seccoi díszítik (info pataylaszlo.hu). Harruckern Ferenc János síremléke 1777-ből a szentély előtt a templomhajó jobb oldali falában, Martin Schmidt bécsi szobrász alkotása. Festett üvegablakait Ligeti Sándor (üvegművész, 1859-1930), 1889-ben készítette "...templom szentélyében nincsenek figurális ablakok, mint azt oly sok helyen láttam már az országban. Itt, a kék szélű ablakok a szentély ablakai, míg a szerényebb kivitelű, és gyakorlatilag egy bordűr széllel ellátott, nagyon kicsi jelképpel a közepén a hajó mentén láthatóak." (kozterkep)...megjegyzés: az előtér kápolna ablaka Szűz Mária? ábrázolás más a készítő??. A Nádi Boldogasszony új kegyképét Borsa Antal festőművész (1902-1974) 1951-ben készítette. 1998-ban Lakatos Tibor készítette a Boldog Apor Vilmos oltárt, Boldog Apor Vilmos képe Simon M. Veronika alkotása. Holokauszt katolikus áldozatai emléktábla (2006). Az előtér kápolnájában van Hidassy Jakab 1746-1798 c. kanonok, gyulai plébános sírja (emléktábla 1998) - Műemléki azonosító: 2465 (törzsszám: 744).
