Målning. Pieter Brueghel, Bondbröllop. HWY XXXII:B.107.
Nyckelord: Brueghel d.y., Bondbröllop, Allmogen, Målning, Föremålsbild
Description
-*- The painter was the eldest son of Pieter Brueghel the Elder. He enjoyed a successful career in Antwerp, supervising a large studio which made replicas and variants of compositions by his father. The painting uses elements from a number of scenes of peasant life by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. The bride is the figure wearing a crown on the far side of the table on the right hand side of the picture. The bridegroom is seated opposite her. This paintings belongs to a small group of independent works by Brueghel the Younger. His dependence on his father is revealed stylistically, whereas the composition is entirely his own. In addition to this painting, Marlier mentions four signed pictures on the same subject.
