English: The street nameplate is just about visible if you walk up close, stop and stare.
With the photo above, I've increased the brightness and contrast; and sharpened the lettering. But it's still very hard to read. Even harder if someone is trying to locate the street at night; or in the rain; from a vehicle; or if the person has poor eyesight. ► 3 June 2015. I reported the signs to Haringey Council on through FixMyStreet free website. The name plates have been placed on order and will be replaced as soon as we get a delivery. Kind Regards [name and contact details given] Neighbourhood Action Team Officer Haringey Council Original Message ----- From : Alan Stanton To : Neighbourhood Action Team Officer Cc : Bruce Grove ward councillors Sent : Wednesday, June 03, 2015 10:53 PM Subject : Street Name plates Chaplin Road N17 Many thanks for your prompt response to my report on FixMyStreet website. I am pleased that an order has been placed and that new signs will be installed. However, I am concerned that these signs appear to have been deteriorating for many years - almost to the point where they are unreadable for most practical purposes. ● Is there no system for routinely monitoring such signs and adding them to a rolling programme of renewal as and when funding is available? ● Is there no system whereby staff who walk or drive past and spot such signs can quickly, easily and cheaply pass on this information? (E.g with a smartphone?) ● If the Council is serious about regeneration in Tottenham I'd have thought that having clear, legible street signs would be a sensible part of its plans. ● Finally can I suggest that the new signs should include the information "Leading to Felixstowe Road", for the obvious reason that people must turn into Chaplin Road in order to reach one of the homes in Felixstowe Road N17, as this is a no-through-road. Thanks again for your help. |
