Samuel May Jr. writes to William Lloyd Garrison about the day he and other friends of Garrison went to see him off to Paris but could not find him. May then describes the ongoing court hearing concerning the bequeathment of Francis Jacksońs estate, particularly on Wendell Phillipśs attempt to direct some money to the National Anti-Slavery Standard, to which May opposes. May then talks about his friends in England whom Garrison may meet during his visit there, as well as their mutual friends back in the US
