Summary
[edit]DescriptionLeeds Town Hall 27 July 2019 (17).JPG |
The police cells under the Town Hall, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Designed by Cuthbert Brodrick, built 1853-1858. The Victoria hall and former courtrooms of the town hall are raised above a slope, so that the crypt containing the police cells is at ground floor level at the back, and at basement level at the front. Showing one of the cells under the Town Hall entrance lobby. The corridor for these cells is beneath the Town Hall steps, and that corridor drips like a dungeon when it rains. This cell has a Victorian brown clay lavatory with no flushing mechanism. Material just drops straight into a sewer or sewage pit below. |
