A black and white image of the Kīlauea Volcano explosion. This image shows a wider view of the eruption and shows the ground above the crater. The center of the image shows the crater filled with smoke clouds going into the sky which is filled with thin white clouds. The smoke is thick and dark. it also shows rocks being thrown out from the crater due to the massive explosion and hitting the ground. On the right side of the explosion cloud there are rocks plummeting down from the sky onto the surface of the caldera. The caption at the bottom of the image reads “Explosion clouds & rocks. Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii National Park 8:15 am, May 22, 1924.” On the bottom right corner of the image there is a signature of the photographer that reads, "Tai Sing 108."
