Paar 'bolspelden' van 18-karaats goud, gedragen door een vrouw of meisje in Zuid-Beveland. Gouden bolspelden komen slechts sporadisch voor, omdat zij alleen door de rijkste mensen werden gedragen. De meeste vrouwen droegen koperen bolspelden die men af en toe opnieuw liet vergulden. De spelden werden in de ondermuts gestoken, vlak achter de oorijzeruiteinden of stikken. Mogelijk zijn de bolspelden vervaardigd door J. Stekelenburg in Schoonhoven, tussen 1837 en circa 1845. De bollen van dit paar hebben een diameter van 3,3 centimeter. Bolspelden met een diameter van circa 3 centimeter werden voornamelijk gedragen omstreeks 1880-1890. Dat zou betekenen dat dit voor de periode rond 1845 een paar forse bolspelden waren. |
