Description A janela do Capítulo do Convento, mais tarde imitada para o Palácio da Pena, foi encomendada por D. Manuel I e desenhada por Diogo de Arruda. É o mais conhecido exemplo de arquitectura manuelina, magnificamente decorada no exterior, que é a imagem mais representativa da exuberância da estética manuelina, ilustrativa do naturalismo exótico e do uso de pormenores marítimos, possui no intradorso colunelos a imitar troncos podados, encimados por arco polilobado com florões onde se encaixa aro torso; o enquadramento, em alto-relevo, inicia-se inferiormente com um tronco desenraizado carregado por figura masculina barbada, que se subdivide em 2 frisos de onde se elevam 2 colunas recamadas de folhagem e corolas, atadas por grossos cordões com nós e ladeadas inferiormente por 2 pequenos nichos vegetalistas desabitados e superiormente por duas esferas armilares atadas a segmentos curvos de folhagem; sobre o vão da janela sobrepõe-se grosso arco polilobado recamado de folhas onde se encaixam 2 aros torsos rematados inferiormente por florões, e cujos segmentos superiores se enroscam; remata a composição escudo real encimado por cruz da Ordem de Cristo sobre pano de muro esquadriado. <a href="http://arte.vmribeiro.net/?p=486" rel="nofollow">arte.vmribeiro.net/?p=486</a>
