Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Inside Drottningholm Palace, August 2017.

English: Drottningholm - staircase. The ceiling in the stairwell's lantern, whose windows provide the stairs with overhead light, was painted by David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl, forms the roof of the lantern. The motif shows Apollo and Minerva, the foremost patrons of the arts and sciences, holding the dowager queen Hedvig Eleonora's name cipher (HE). It was not until 1686, i.e. five years after Tessin the Elder's death, that the ceiling and wall paintings of the stairwell were begun by Johan Sylvius. The ceilings in the two vestibules, the upper and the lower vestibule, are painted by Johan Sylvius. The upper plafond has Greek motifs, while the lower one has Roman motifs.

Svenska: Trapphuset, Drottningholms slott.
