Description
English:
Terézia Schrempf information board. Part of the German minority educational trail. About this: ~17-year-old Theresa Schrempf was visiting a celebration in Mohács in the 1930s when she was chosen as a model for the statue of Jenő Martinelli in the Széchenyi square. On the artwork, a Hungarian, a German and a 'Sokac'/Croatian minority/ girl hold hands, on the pedestal you can read verses by G. E. Lessing, proclaiming the value inherent in the diversity of nationalities, Terézia Schrempf (1923-1975), got valiant title for modeling, received arable land, and got Hungarian name, Terézia Sikrai. By the 17th century, Mohács, once inhabited almost exclusively by Hungarians, had been almost wiped out by the Turks. At the end of the 17th century it became a town with Hungarian inhabitants, German, Sokac/Croatian minority/, Serbian and Romanian populations (Hungarian minority?). For a long time, marriages between different nationalities were not typical. From about the beginning of the 20th century, mixed marriages became common /translated by Microsoft Bing/- west side of the Széchenyi Square, Mohács, Baranya County, Hungary..
Magyar:

Kb. 20. sz. elejétől gyakoriak lettek a vegyes házasságok. + Info: lehrpfad.hu/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/mohacs_fuezet_hu.pdf - Baranya megye, Mohács, Széchenyi tér, Szabadság utca felőli (Ny-i oldala)
