Summary
[edit]DescriptionImaging-stretch-activated-firing-of-spinal-afferent-nerve-endings-in-mouse-colon-Movie2.ogv |
English: This movie shows a discharge of calcium transients in a single intramuscular spinal afferent axon that innervates circular muscle, from a preparation of mouse colon pinned under maintained circumferential stretch. The data was acquired at using a frame rate 40 Hz and the movie reproduced in real time. The discharge of calcium transients occurs in discrete varicosities that are temporally synchronized with calcium discharges in the axon from which the varicosities arise. The recording was made in the presence of hexamethonium (400 μM) and nifedipine (1 μM) applied to the colon. The arrows that appear on the screen indicate the location of varicosities. |
