Português: Brasília, 23/05/2016 - Situada no centro do Atlântico Sul, a distância de cerca de 1.150 km do município de Vitória (ES), ponto mais próximo do território brasileiro e a 4.300 km do Continente Africano, a Ilha da Trindade é considerada um posto avançado para a Defesa Nacional. Por estar no extremo oriental do Brasil, a localização de Trindade permite a identificação e o controle de embarcações que transitam em águas próximas da região. Este é um dos motivos pelo qual a Marinha do Brasil ocupa a ilha desde o ano de 1957, explica, no vídeo, o capitão de fragata e gerente do programa de pesquisas científicas na ilha, Sidnei da Costa Abrantes. |
