English: Timelapse of a hyperboloid object print (made of PLA) using a Reprap “Prusa Mendel” 3D printer.
Original caption: "
Timelapse of printing George Hart's Hyperboloid object on my RepRap Prusa Mendel 3D printer with a MakerGear hotend, using Skeinforge40 and Sprinter firmware on RAMPS reading directly mfrom a SD card. Nozzle is .5mm and layer thickness is .25mm with PLA. Total print time was about 80 minutes. The challenges with this object are to get the first layer to really stick to the print bed well so they don't dislodge before connecting together and forming a stable ring, and to print at a speed that allows enough cooling so that the nozzle doesn't stick or drag due to passing over the same area too quickly between passes.
