Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "One Step or Fox Trot". I guess by 1920 rags were no longer in fashion, which explains why this well-crafted folk rag was labelled as a fox trot, which were in vogue at the time. And it's a rare one, self-published by George A. Hardwick from Glenwood Springs, Colorado, which is still a lovely resort town. With some help from Musescore researcher Erlingl we've been able to determine that George Albert Hardwick was born in Missouri in 1873, the youngest in a very large family, to farmer John Hardwick and his wife Sarah. His trade was that of a violin maker and repairer of stringed instruments, based in western Colorado. No other musical achievements or scores have been found. He died and was buried in Rifle, Colorado in 1947, which is about 40 miles down the road from Glenwood Springs.
