Summary
[edit]DescriptionHigh resolution spectrum of Procyon (noao-procyon).tiff |
English: A high resolution version of the spectrum of the sub-giant star Procyon, also known as Alpha Canis Minoris (spectral type F5). This image was created from a digital version of the outstanding photographic atlas observed with the Mount Wilson 100-inch reflector and published in 1979 (Griffin, R.E. and Griffin, R., Cambridge, U.K.). The data were obtained from the Astronomical Data Center at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The images shown here were created to mimic an echelle spectrum, with wavelength increasing from left to right along each strip, and from bottom to top. Each of the 50 slices covers 60 angstroms, for a complete spectrum across the visual range from 4000 to 7000 angstroms. This image covers the same wavelength range in the same format as the spectrum of Arcturus, type K1 (or K2), and the spectrum of our own Sun, type G2. |
