Description
Deutsch: Die heutige Verbindung in der Hannovers Oststadt, zwischen dem Volgersweg und der Lister Meile, wurde 1872 angelegt. Der Name dieser Straße sollte an den Sieg der deutschen Truppen bei der sogenannten Schlacht bei Sedan am 1. und 2. September 1870 im Deutsch-Französischen Krieg erinnern. Im 21. Jahrhundert kann dieser Straßenname den Namen der nordfranzösischen Kleinstadt Sedan nach Hannover tragen. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs führte die Nähe zum Hauptbahnhof und zu den Militäranlagen des Welfenplatzes zu großflächigen Zerstörungen der Erst-Bebauung dieses Straßenzuges durch die Bombardierung Hannovers. Zu den zerstörten Häusern gehörte auch das Haus Sedanstraße 21, das an der Ecke Friesenstraße steht. Es wurde in den 1950er Jahren neu gebaut. Sein Eingang liegt in der Friesenstraße.
