Example of panning in photography.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This photo demonstrates panning in photography. The camera deliberately tracks the trajectory of a moving subject. This creates a motion blur, usually streaky or smudged, of the background. There are creative challenges in panning photography: exposure time to allow for sufficient camera motion and keeping the subject in focus. A moving object like a train or car is easier to pan because the subject only has trajectory. Runners, animals, insects or birds in motion have trajectory plus the challenge of moving limbs, legs or wings which will also appear blurred in motion due to the longer exposure time required for camera panning.
