Description
English:
Törökbálint ( German name: Großturwall ) city limit. About the German name: from 1693 Törökbálint became the property of the Jesuit Order. After the expulsion of the Turks, first Catholicized Serbs (Racians) settle in the depopulated region, and then, thanks to the decrees of the fathers, German (Swabian) settlers arrive from the Black Forest area. The 1828 census finds the settlement to be truly German-speaking, out of the 1509 inhabitants surveyed, about two-thirds are Germans and one-quarter are Rác. In 1946 most of the German-speaking citizens living here were deported, replaced bysettlers from the Alföld (Hungarian Great Plain) and from beyond the Carpathian Basin (former Hungarian Kingdom areas). The united, clean and hardworking Swabian/German majority Törökbálint, becomes a heterogeneous village that has lost lot of its traditions and values. - Road 8102, Törökbálint, Pest County, Hungary.
