Grenzstein zwischen dem Großherzogum
Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach und Vierzehnheiligen
Die Gemarkung Vierzehnheiligen, nordwestlich von
Jena gelegen und jetzt in die Stadt eingemeindet,
gehörte von 1826 bis 1920 zum Herzogtum Sachsen-Meiningen.
Sie lag als Enklave innerhalb des Großherzogtums
Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach, was die Initialien
"SM" bzw. "SW" bezeugen. Die Gemarkungsgrenze
war punktweise fortlaufend nummeriert. Im Bereich des
früheren Standortes grenzt auf weimarischer Seite die
Gemarkung Isserstedt an. 1806 fand in unmitteibarer
Nähe des Dorfes die Entscheidungsschlacht zwischen
den Truppen Napoleons und der verbündeten preußisch-sächsischen
Armee statt. Daran
erinnern in Vierzehnheiligen ein
Denkmal und Orientierungspunkte
im Gelände.
