Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Gethsemane Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. Built at the corner of 4th and Hamilton Streets NW circa 1946 as the Lewis Memorial Methodist Church, demographic change in the Petworth neighborhood caused the Methodist church to close. The building was bought by Gethsemane Baptist, an African-American congregation, in 1961, which still occupies the site as of 2023.
