Description |
English: A fine German Baroque royal portrait painting of German Princess Henriette Casimira (1696-1738). The youngest daughter of Henry Casimir II of Nassau-Dietz (1657-1696) and Princess Henriette Amalia of Anhalt-Dessau (1666-1726) she is shown matured and sensualized, wrapped in diaphanous drapery seated on a chair. The work was finely executed and is an exceptional example of Baroque period portraiture. The work is signed faintly around the upper left border in red and translates to the following: "Princes Henriette Casimira born 10/2 July, 1696". The painting is housed in an oval frame with carved and gesso details. |
