Description
Français : Modélisation du risque d'exposition aux fumées d'incendie de forêt dans l'ouest des Etats-Unis. Evolution prévue d(es temps d'exposition moyens en nombre de jour par an, et de la durée moyenne de la "saison des feux") entre le début et le milieu du XXIème siècle.
Rappel : Ces fumées sont aussi des émissions de gaz à effet de serre, et une source de polluants atmosphérique et de composés toxiques. Les moyens de combatre les feux s'améliorent mais le risque (et sans doute les coûts de lutte contre le feu) augmenteront très probablement avec le dérèglement climatique.
English: Model of risk of exposure to forest fire fumes in the western United States : Expected evolution of average exposure times in terms of the number of days per year, and the average duration of the "fire season" between the beginning and the middle of the 21st century.
Reminder: These fumes are also emissions of greenhouse gases, and a source of atmospheric pollutants and toxic compounds. The means of combating fires are improving, but the risk (and probably the cost of firefighting) will most likely increase with climate change.
