Description

Escuela francesa. Françoise-Marie de Bourbon, duquesa de Orleans (1677-1749). Hija legítima de Luis XIV, casada con Felipe II de Orleans, futuro regente de Francia durante la minoría de edad de Louis XV. Acuarela y guache sobre marfil. Marco oval de bronce dorado con copete. Dimensiones miniatura: 67x50 mm. Inv.794.

Françoise-Marie de Bourbon (1677-1749), era hija legítima de Luis XIV y la marquesa de Montespan (1640-1707). Casó con el sobrino del rey, Felipe II de Orleans, futuro regente durante la minoría de edad de Luis XV. El matrimonio tuvo una abundante prole, entre las cuales está Louise-Élizabeth, mademoiselle de Montpensier, que casó en 1723 con el rey de España Luis I (1707-1724).

Esta miniatura sigue el modelo del retrato doble de las mademoiselles de Blois (castillo de Versalles), de Felipe Vignon (1674-1703), donde aparece sentada junto a su hermana Louise-Françoise de Borbón. Se trata, pues, de un retrato de reproducción, pintado al guache sobre placa de marfil realizado en el siglo XIX, en fecha sin determinar y autoría desconocida. Un retrato bastante fiel al original, ejecutado con buena técnica.
