English: Development of the Union Jack: the cross of St. George (flag of England) was combined with the saltire of St. Andrew (flag of Scotland) to form the flag of Great Britain. The flag of Great Britain was then combined with the red saltire of the insignia of the 1783 royal Order of St. Patrick (not the flag of Ireland) to form the flag of the United Kingdom.
Deutsch: Entwicklung des Union Jack: Die Flagge Englands (rotes Georgskreuz auf weißem Grund) und die schottische Flagge (weißes Andreaskreuz auf blauem Grund) wurden kombiniert zur Flagge Großbritanniens. Diese wurde kombiniert mit dem den 1783 gegründeten Order of St Patrick repräsentierenden Patrickskreuz zur Flagge des Vereinigten Königreichs. |
