Persvrijheidslezing door Kurt Westergaard.

De Persvrijheidslezing wordt elk jaar uitgesproken door een invloedrijke spreker die zich inzet voor persvrijheid. Dit jaar is dat de Deense cartoonist Kurt Westergaard. Westergaard werd in 2005 bekend door een cartoon in de Deense krant Jyllands Posten, waarin de moslimprofeet Mohammed werd afgebeeld met een bom in zijn tulband. De cartoon was onderdeel van een reeks van 12 tekeningen over de islam. De publicatie leidde tot grote controverse en rellen, en de cartoon van Westergaard groeide uit tot een icoon. Sinds Westergaard in 2010 aan een aanslag ontsnapte, wordt hij continu streng beveiligd.

Na afloop van de Persvrijheidslezing gaan Brahim Bourzik (hoofdredacteur de Moslimkrant), Hans Nijenhuis (chef NRC next) en Shirin Musa (directeur Femmes for Freedom) in gesprek met Kurt Westergaard over zijn lezing, de grenzen van de vrijheid van meningsuiting, zelfcensuur en de kracht van satire. Daarna is er ruimte voor Q&A met het publiek.
