Description
English:
The statue of the three girls is the work of Eugene Martinelli (installed in 1932). It was built on the occasion of liberation after the Serbian occupation. The girls dressed in Hungarian, German and Sokác/Croatian national costumes symbolize friendship. The quote on the west side of the monument reads: "Reach out to each other here / Come! / Let each one keep his / habit, let him consider his mother more beautiful / than all, let / your tongue walk in a thousand directions. The heart / has only one tongue between us". (G. E. Lessing) - Széchenyi Square, Mohács, Baranya County, Hungary.

A három leány szobra Martinelli Jenő alkotás (Felállítás 1932. augusztus 28.)[1]. A szerb megszállás utáni felszabadulás alkalmából épült. A magyar, a német és a sokác/horvát népviseletbe öltözött lányok a barátságot jelképezik. Az emlékmű nyugati oldalán olvasható idézet: "Nyújtsatok itt kezet egymásnak, / jöjjetek! / Hadd tartsa meg mindnyája az ő / szokását, hadd vélje anyját szebbnek / mindenkinél, hadd járjon azután a / nyelvetek ezerfelé. A szívnek / csakis egy nyelve van közöttünk". (G. E. Lessing). [2] - A Széchenyi tér szimmetriáját stabilizálja az a két zászlótartó szoborcsoport, amely a keleti illetve a nyugati oldal középtengelyében áll. Mindkettőt Martinelli Jenő (1886-1949) szobrászművész készítette. A szoborhoz kapcsolodik a tér szálén található Schrempf Terézia tájékoztatótábla - Baranya megye, Mohács, Széchenyi tér.
