English: The "Follow Me Truck" leads an F-35A prototype Joint Strike Fighter to parking at spot J-1 @ Eglin AFB, Fla., April 22, 2009 after the base was chosen as home of the F-35 flying training wing for the Air Force. The aircraft landed amid controversy surrounding the noise the jet makes. Many onlookers here reported they did not hear any unusually loud jet noise. The F-35 is a stealthy (radar-evading), supersonic multirole fighter designed to meet the U.S. military's requirements for a new generation of transformational weapons. Lockheed-Martin will manufacture the single-engined Joint Strike Fighter in three versions: The F-35A - a conventional-takeoff-and-landing (CTOL) variant for the U.S. Air Force; The F-35B - short-takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) version for the U.S. Marine Corps & UK Joint Forces.; and the F-35C - aircraft-carrier version for the U.S. Navy.
