English: This movie shows two zebrafish swimming near Ucrit synchronously in the small swim-tunnels that were used for the individual swimming fitness experiment (note that blue light was not used during the actual experiment and oxygen electrodes were connected at the back side). After switching to a higher speed, the fish in the first tunnel fatigues and is dragged against the back screen by the stream. Zebrafish have a critical swimming speed Ucrit of 0.548 ± 0.007 m s−1 or 18.0 ± 0.2 standard BL s−1. |
