Description
Deutsch: Esslingen am Neckar: Situationsansicht des Gebäudeensembles am Schäferwehr (auch: Sailerwehr), an dem sich der Hammerkanal in Rossneckar und Wehrneckarkanal trennt [1].
  • Das Gelände am Wehr gehört zu einem „[s]pätmittelalterliche[n] und frühneuzeitliche[n] Gewerbegebiet“ [2] mit diversen von der Wasserkraft abhängigen Betrieben, für welche die Wasserregulierung durch das Wehr erforderlich war.
  • Links im Hintergrund die klassizistische, 1913/14 errichtete Königlich Württembergische Höhere Maschinenbauschule (oft „Ingenieursschule“ genannt, Kanalstr. 33, heute Teil der Hochschule Esslingen) [3].
  • Rechts die Nordwestfassade des ebenfalls denkmalgeschützten, 1922 errichteten Fachwerkhauses Kanalstraße 22 [4].
