Highsmith Archive.; Gift; The Lyda Hill Foundation; 2014; (DLC/PP-2014:054).; The park was the site of HemisFair '68, the official 1968 World's Fair (or International Exposition). Its theme was "The Confluence of Civilizations in the Americas", celebrating the many nations that settled region. The fair coincided with the 250th anniversary of the founding of San Antonio in 1718. More than 30 nations and 15 corporations hosted pavilions at the fair. In the distance is the Tower of the Americas, the theme structure for HemisFair '68.
