Description
English: Cathedral of Cosenza, Italy
Deutsch: Dom von Cosenza (CS), Italien. In diesem um 1100 in romanisch-gotischem Stil erbaute Dom von Cosenza ließ der Stauferkaiser Friedrich II. seinen rebellischen Sohn Heinrich (VII.), zeitweise römisch-deutscher König und König von Sizilien aus dem Geschlecht der Staufer, in einem römischen Steinsarg bestatten. Seine Mutter Königin Konstanze von Sizilien war die erste Ehefrau Friedrich II. und brachte das Königreich als Erbe in die Ehe ein. Sohn Heinrich (VII.) rebellierte gegen seinen Vater, wurde verhaftet und in mehreren Burgen arrestiert. Er starb angeblich an den Folgen eines Sturzes vom Pferd am 12. Februar 1242 in Martirano bei einem Selbstmordversuch, war nach jüngsten Forschungen an Lebra erkrankt. Daher ließ ihn sein Vater Friedrich II. hier und nicht in der Grablege der Familie in der Kathedrale von Palermo bestatten.
