Description
English: One of two photographs of the intersection of Doctor Robert Banger Hayling Place and Rollins Avenue in the Moultire Junction section of Saint Augustine, Florida. The street was renamed for civil rights advocate and former dentist Robert B. Hayling, who inherited a dental office in what is today the Lincolnville Historic District from Dr. Rudolph N. Gordon, which refused to comply with the Jim Crow Laws that were in place until the mid-1960s, and violently resisted threats and attacks by the Ku Klux Klan. His office was also used as a meetinghouse for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference R.B. Hayling Place itself is a renamed segment of Live Oak Street, and is part of the Freedom Trail exhibit. Taken from my cell phone after the battery on my camera died.
