Summary
[edit]DescriptionDevon Close - Missing Street nameplate 26 August 2013.jpg |
English: 25 August 2013. Usually I would report this to Haringey. But this time I didn't.
Because I wanted to see how long it would take before the missing nameplate was spotted and replaced without the intervention of a local councillor. (Which I was until 22 May 2014 when there were new borough elections.) Devon Close is a Council Estate managed by Homes for Haringey. This is an ALMO - Arms Length management organisation - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Haringey Council. Its staff are not responsible for the roads and street signs but they pass by when visiting these homes. Various other staff from Haringey and its contractors walk or drive along this road. These include staff working for Veolia, Haringey's waste management contractors. And of course, the Council encourages any local resident who spots a damaged or missing streetname sign to report this. Maybe they did? But nothing happened for several months until it was eventually reported by my (then) ward colleague Cllr Lorna Reith. And even then, it took many weeks to be replaced. |
