48th Infantry Regiment Monument / Petőfi statue by Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl (1934 bronze statue, local grade listed) The statue depicts Sándor Petőfi with a Hungarian soldier with a hand grenadier during World War I. On the pedestal of the bronze statue are quotes from the poet Petőfi. On the other side dates and places related to the regiment (in middle WWI plaque) - Deák Square, Nagykanizsa, Zala County, Hungary.

48. gyalogezred emlékműve / Petőfi-szobor (Felállítás 1934, Kisfaludi Strobl Zsigmond, Rafael Vignali (bronzöntő, közreműködő)) A korábban az emlékmű helyének közelében álló Török kút áthelyezése után kerülhetett a térre a 12 ezer hősi halott emlékműve. A szobor Petőfi Sándort ábrázolja egy első világháborús kézigránátos magyar katonával. A bronz szobor talapzatán a költőtől származó idézetek olvashatók: “S az ó világnak romjain Az új világot megteremtik”, “És mi nem hagyjuk magunkat, Míg lesz egy kéz s egy kard! Fogadom, hogy megbánja, Aki bántja a magyart.”. Ugyanitt megörökítették a gyalogezred 1799–1918 közötti nevezetesebb fegyvertényeit is. 1934-ben, az avatáskor a talapzat elülső oldalának közepére a következő vésett felirat került: "1798 – 1918/ A cs. és kir. 48. gyalogezred/halhatatlan hőseinek emlékére". 1945 után az eredeti feliratot márványlappal fedték, rá (a forradalmár) Petőfi egyik verséből (Véres napokról álmodom…) vett idézetet véstek: “S az ó világnak romjain Az új világot megteremtik”. Az 1980-as évek legvégén a talapzat hátsó, megemelt részére újabb, Petőfi idézetes, de kisebb tábla került. 2008-ban leemelték mindkét márványtáblát és a hősi halottakra emlékező eredeti szövegre a második idézetet tartalmazó új, nagy márványlapot helyeztek. 2014-ben eltávolították a 2008-as táblát és ismét Petőfi idézetes került fel.
