Summary
[edit]DescriptionDaffodils in Farndale, North Yorkshire - geograph.org.uk - 218219.jpg |
English: Daffodils in Farndale, North Yorkshire. Farndale is a valley running north to south in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It consists of farms and two hamlets, Low Mill to the south and Church Houses to the north.
In spring, along a 3 mile walk in the valley bottom, wild daffodils are in bloom along the banks of the River Dove. It is possible that the daffodils were planted by monks from a nearby abbey before the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII. The daffodils, which bring thousands of visitors each year to the walk between Low Mill and Church houses, are protected by the Nature Conservancy Council. |
