Notes
  • Significance: Building 52 is a contributing element of the Mare Island District. Building 52 is a part of a key group of very early brick shops buildings in the shipyard at Mare Island which together comprise one of the most important collections of shipyard buildings in the United States. These various buildings include Building 46, the oldest of the group, and Buildings 50, and 52. While linked, the many buildings were constructed at different times and represent somewhat differing architectural traditions. The key elements of this complex are Buildings 46, 50, and 52, which form the waterfront facade immediately adjacent to Dry Dock 1. Building 52 is important chiefly for its contribution to that streetscape.
