| Description |
English: The Bureau of Land Management public lands in the Castle Peak area of Eagle County offer a variety of terrain to explore. Elevation ranges from 6,200 feet to more than 11,200 feet at the top of Castle Peak. The mountainous, diverse landscape includes open sagebrush parks, pinyon-juniper woodlands, mountain meadows, aspen and spruce-fir. The diverse habitat provides for diverse wildlife, including elk, mule deer, black bear, dusky grouse and various birds of prey.
The Castle Peak area also offers a variety of recreational opportunities, from riding dirt bikes on single track trails around Bocco Mountain to the remote backcountry of the Wilderness Study Areas. Castle Peak gets its name from the turret-like rock formations jutting into the skyline. It’s one of three “Castle Peaks” in Colorado. Photo Credit: BLM Photo by Bob Wick |
