Deutsch: Beschreibung: Eine Roßameise (Camponotus herculeanus). Rossameisen (Camponotus) oder Holzameisen sind eine Gattung der Ameisen (Formicidae) aus der Unterfamilie der Schuppenameisen (Formicinae). Ihr gehören weltweit über 1.000 Arten an, in der Paläarktis kommen davon mindestens 100 teilweise sehr große Arten vor.
English: Description: This image shows a Carpenter ant (Camponotus herculeanus).Carpenter ants are large ants (¼ in–1 in) indigenous to large parts of the world. They prefer dead, damp wood in which to build nests. Sometimes carpenter ants will hollow out sections of trees.
Français : Description: Fourmi charpentière (Camponotus herculeanus). Les fourmi charpentières sont de grosses fourmis (0,5 à 1 cm) que l'on trouve dans la plus grande partie du monde. Elles aiment construire leur nid dans le vieux bois humide où elles peuvent évider de grandes cavités.
