Description
English: This 108’ single-span steel truss bridge, closed for lack of maintenance in 1976, spans the former Boston & Albany R.R. track, and provides access between Brookline’s historic Longwood/Cottage Farm neighborhoods and the Riverway Park section of the Emerald Necklace. Many footbridges over railroad tracks were made of steel. Few remain today. This footbridge is now (Spring 2021) being restored by Brookline and Aetna Bridge Co. (Warwick, RI). Completion and re-opening are planned for mid-2022. For updates, email hmattison@aol.com.
