Description

Activists on a bus highlighting the irony of the United Arab Emirates, a major oil producer and a brutal dictatorship with an appalling record on war crimes, human rights and its treatment of immigrant workers, being allowed to host COP28 and what could be the last chance for world populations to protest and pressure their governments to commit to effective controls on emissions before the window of opportunity to prevent catastrophic climate genocide closes for ever.

Activists, some green organisations and concerned citizens, including author and filmmaker Naomi Klein, are calling for a boycott.

In June 2020, the Yemeni human rights group Mwatana issued a report claiming that Emirati forces and UAE backed armed groups in the country were responsible for 'at least 327 cases of enforced disappearance', 141 cases of torture and 25 deaths in custody.
